Popular vegan restaurant Mangosteen in Southsea has announced it will permanently close this weekend, with Sunday marking its final day of service after three years serving plant-based cuisine to the local community.
The beloved vegetarian and vegan eatery on Palmerston Road revealed the news through a Facebook announcement yesterday (June 12), describing the decision with a “heavy heart.”
Mangosteen first opened on 31st January 2022 under proprietor Nazmin Akthar, who established the venue to bring more plant-based dining options to Portsmouth. The restaurant quickly gained recognition for its colourful international dishes and became a popular destination for vegans, vegetarians, and food enthusiasts.
In the Facebook statement, the restaurant described its time in Southsea as “nothing short of incredible,” highlighting how it evolved from “launching a fully plant-based concept in the heart of Portsmouth to becoming a beloved spot for vegans, vegetarians, and foodies alike.”
The final service will take place on Sunday, 15th June, which coincides with Father’s Day. The restaurant has invited customers to join them “this weekend for one final celebration of flavours, memories, and good vibes.”
