Portsmouth Women have completed the signing of defender Greta Humphries from Chelsea on a one-year contract with an option for a further 12 months extension.
The 20-year-old started her footballing journey in Tottenham’s youth setup before transferring to Chelsea, where she penned her maiden professional deal aged 18.
Last season, Humphries accumulated valuable WSL2 experience during a loan stint with Bristol City in the campaign’s opening half.
Chelsea subsequently brought her back before she moved to Charlton Athletic on loan in January, featuring in five matches for the Addicks.
Blues manager Jay Sadler commented: “We’re thrilled to welcome Greta to the squad. We’ve been tracking her progress for some time.
“She’s an exciting young defender who has received excellent coaching at Chelsea and already possesses valuable experience in this division from her two loan spells last season.

“She brings a strong physical presence, adding height to our defensive line. Her progressive play with the ball will complement our style, as will her tenacious defending ability.
“Most importantly, she’s a modest and industrious character who will integrate well with the group we have assembled here.”
