Man jailed for shoplifting in Aldershot and Farnham

A 35-year-old man has been sentenced to four months in prison after admitting to shoplifting in Aldershot and Farnham, stealing goods valued at more than £700 from local stores.

Stephen Shanahan, who has no fixed address, targeted multiple shops across both towns between September and November this year, taking meat, alcohol, confectionery, household items, and laundry products totalling £749.

The shoplifting in Aldershot and Farnham occurred at two locations. Shanahan struck the Co-op store on Lower Farnham Road in Aldershot on 10 separate occasions. He also stole from Tesco Express on Ridgway Road in Farnham once during the same period.

Police conducted an investigation following the reported thefts and subsequently arrested Shanahan. He was charged with multiple offences relating to the incidents.

Appearing at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on Monday 17 November, Shanahan entered guilty pleas to 11 counts of theft from a shop. The court handed down a four-month custodial sentence.
